For many many years now, I been fascinated with and inspired by art—whether it meant playing with the messy oil pastels my grandmother would bring me from Israel when I was a little girl, viewing slides in an art history class or curator’s lecture, or actually seeing works in the flesh—in museums, galleries, public parks, etc.
Whether an object elicits a visceral response—sending shivers down my spine, or a more cerebral one—simply engaging me and making me want to learn more—I find that it also has a healing effect, taking my thoughts, if only for a moment, away from the banalities of the everyday to a more inspired place. Hence, the name Artidote. I hope that by sharing my experience with various works, I will spark a similar feeling in my readers, or at a minimum, an introduction to a previously unknown artist or concept and the desire to learn and see more. Thanks for reading! ~Yael
